Home Energy Audits and Upgrades At the time of the visit, the energy specialist pre-screens and informs the resident of potential other services for which they may be eligible, such as weatherization, housing rehabilitation, other grant funds from Groundwork Denver, or other types of senior assistance. They can sign up for recycling services or free street trees, and learn about programs to compost or dispose of household hazardous waste.

With funds from Energy Outreach Colorado, we can offer to return to the home for a trained energy specialist to make low-cost improvements and educate the occupant about simple energy saving measures that can be made in the home. The improvements covered include: reducing the water heater temperature, lowering the heating thermostat, adjusting the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, installing additional compact fluorescent light bulbs, creating power-strip hubs to eliminate “phantom” electricity loads, washing laundry in cold water, and other simple changes.
