Groundwork Denver specializes in the use of Photovoice as a way to assist residents of marginalized communities record and reflect their community's strengths and concerns; to promote critical dialogue and knowledge about personal and community issues through group discussions of photographs; and to engage policy makers.

Atlantis Community Project

We recently finished an exciting Photovoice projects with Atlantis Community. Atlantis Community supports independent living for adults with disabilities. Clients tell their story about mobility in the community.

Elyria Swansea Neighborhood Plan

We worked with a group of youth at the Cross Community Coalition and a group of monolingual Spanish-speaking women who were participating in the Swansea Elementary Summer Scholars Program. They were asked for input on a new plan for the neighborhood that the City is working on. Participants presented their concerns, including industrial odors, garbage, unpaved alleys, dangerous train crossings, and grafitti and security, to city planners.
